A simple lawn removal transforms into an edible landscape with whimsy

Custom Corten steel basket woven fence panels create privacy and maximize the space for raised veggie beds.

A warm palette of rock mulches and flagstone brings out the color of the vintage chimney tops. The chimneys were repurposed into lights to highlight the entry.

From a quick lawn removal sprouts a Mediterranean courtyard

Lawn removal in a small front yard transformed the feel of the space. The yard now feels larger with the addition of a courtyard which can be used for entertaining. Chocolate toned natural flagstone was used and highlighted with Mexican pebbles. Copper glazed pots and red maple trees give this Spanish looking home the right vibe.

COZY COURTYARD

A complete contemporary renovation into a landscape for entertaining

A floating sunken fire pit is framed by geometric palm planters. Pavers are travertine and pick up the colors in the natural stone pool trim. The adjacent large kitchen area and bar are tucked into the stone clad retaining walls. Low maintenance and drought tolerant faux tropical landscape, pop the perimeter of the yard and soften the walls.

MODERN MALIBU VIBES

A new home with a rustic touch, set in the country with views of the hillside.

A landscape to frame and enhance a new family home with a backdrop of the rolling hills. This landscape was designed to be cohesive with the native plants and mature oak trees surrounding the property. Movement of grasses, textured and seasonal color give the yard a timeless feel.

URBAN

FARM HOUSE

Unique adobe architecture tucked on a hilltop, with drought tolerant Santa Fe themed plantings

Specimen plantings, bold colors, textures and architectural elements make the perimeter around this home feel like the Southwest. Paver and rock colors were carefully chosen to accentuate the home but not over power its adobe style. Set on a hilltop in the country side, it was important that the new landscape also blend into the native oak woodland beyond.

Building process: Before and afters of a large park like landscape

A new home with a large back yard and no privacy. The client's goal was to have the yard feel like a park. The new landscape incorporated many California native plants to match the rolling oak woodland background. Meandering paths and mounding helped to create the feeling of a large park or botanical garden. Many deciduous trees were tucked into the evergreen types, which provided the privacy aspect and added to pops of color when Fall hits.
